ARTIST STATMENT

Kiah is an interdisciplinary artist, creating work in textiles, print and installation.
Through this exploration of materiality, Kiah creates work with an autobiographical content, using art to express experiences, memories and emotions. Influenced by topics such as Feminism, Mental health, psychology and bereavement, work is created through a process of research and confessional writing.

Here, art is an outlet to tackle issues the artist has experienced personally, channelling memories and emotional states into practice, confronting wider faults perceived within society. Art is proposed as a means to heal and educate.

The viewer is invited to make their own connections to the artwork, offering a place to extend and inform personal associations. The intention is to inspire people to express themselves, and to have faith in their own voices as a way to heal.
